5mW 520nm laser isnt stopped by my OD5 goggles!?

I just used my 520nm 5mW pointer from laserBTB on a piece of white paper while wearing my eagle pair OD5 goggles and could clearly see the color, if i point it at something else that isn't white i only see orange, though.

However, i then put them in front of the laser and it still created a much dimmer but still green dot.

I know most people have asked that before when they were wondering, why they could see their green laserdot,
through their goggles that should block axactly that wl, BUT these were mostly high power and not 5mW.

So how is this even possible?
I know i could see the green dot of my 350mW DL hulk ultra but thats alot of power compared to the pointers
5mW..

Any ideas? I really don't wanna risk my sight..

These are the goggles i ordered when i got my 2W 462nm C2 from Grix which im using them for.

Here are 2 pictures i took, sorry for bad quality, dont have another camera atm.

Shining it onto a piece of paper:

The same but through my goggles:

I just can't imagine that this is supposed to happen.
These are 190-540nm & 800-1700nm OD5 goggles after all..

yes thats normal nothing wrong the dot will look alot dimmer u should still see it but since its only 5mw its eye safe more or less so u dont really need use even goggles for that lower powered laser.

The only thing u should not be able to see even on high powered laser is the actual beam.

Oh okay, thanks alot, that clears it up. I allways thought, it shouldn't be possible to see the dot
in the original color through the goggles, except maybe when its a high power laser and you shine
it on something close to you.

And i wasn't actually using the goggles for the 5mW pointer , i used them for my 2W blue that i played around with, before. I just wanted to be able to see the dot of the 5mW better as is pretty bright if you get close to it.

I was really worried about my sight when i saw that. :D

Did some tests with my Eagle Pair (original from SL, though it's not the one that also blocks IR). Edit: these - http://www.survivallaserusa.com/Eag...er_Laser_Safety_Goggles/p1667092_7862524.aspx

I can't see a 532nm dot at all if I shine the laser through the glasses. I just see projected orange fluorescence on the wall. Even at >100mW. By using the glasses normally I can see just the orange/yellow fluorescence dot on the wall.

With a 520nm at 30mW some light gets through, seems like LED emission (not properly focused to a dot, no interference pattern). Probably the high-wavelength component that is above 540nm. By using the glasses normally I see the both the fluorescence and the LED emission.

I just put my goggles a few centimeters in front of my 350mW 532nm hulk ultra and it produced a little green dot on the piece of paper behind it.

The dot it made was even less powerful and smaller than the one my 5mW 520 pen created.

Not sure about the LED emission, though because the 520 dot still looks like a dot when pointed at a wall 2 meters away.
