So I just received my 2W PL-E Pro in the mail. I plan on reviewing it later, but I have a few questions (as a new jetlasers customer). First off, I'm confused with the code switch vs the manual switch. Mine appears to be manual. I just checking the website and I saw no option to pick either or when I ordered the laser. I'm okay with the manual switch, but the coded switch has features I wanted too. I didn't know there was a difference. My laser shipped with the key switch tail cap, the battery extension, and the focus aperture doesn't show where infinity is. The black case (which didn't really matter to me) was just a plastic black case with no padding. Also, it shipped with a small silver disk (it was in it's own package), almost looks like a small watch battery. I'm not sure what it is for. Looks about 5mm wide and 2mm deep. Any help will be appreciated.

Does the "small disk" have threading? If so, then it's likely a dust cap that can be screwed in front of the lens to protect it from dust. It does seem a bit small for it to be a dust cap though, so there's a chance I'm wrong. You should post a picture of it to give us a better idea of what it is you're describing. My case came without any padding too, but regardless of that the parts were each very well packed in a padded envelope.

The code switch looks useful and fun when you first get it, but after a while it just gets annoying to go through such a hassle to turn the laser on. At least, that's what I think of it. Not every laser has every option that they offer available on the drop down lists. Which is the reason why I usually contact Gray from JL with what I want and when I want it.

I believe the infinity focus point of PL-E Pro's is where the the lines with a dot on the end align. If it doesn't seem to be focused to infinity, try twisting it all the way around until it aligns again. Here's a pic I took from Gabe's thread showing what I'm talking about:

Thanks for the quick reply. The switch isn't an issue with my. Just like my other hobbies (cough couch firearms...) I like an instant on feature. I treat my lasers just like my guns. They are always loaded, and my finger is the last resort trigger.

The laser did come with what I call a "barrel plug". a little black threaded piece that screws into the aperture. The disk is still a mystery to me. It's small small and was in it's own foil package. Also, as seen in the pics, no lines to line up the "infinity" focus. Still, not a big deal. Just pointing it out. I'm sorry, I didn't know about gray before I ordered this. By all means I'm not complaining about this laser. Just asking a few questions. Please see the pics. I have a 3.1 W laserbee on the way, so when I get it, I'll review the WL 1W, 2W, and the jetlaser 2W. Promise lots of pictures and maybe a video if I can figure it out.

Is that disc a neodymium magnet for use with flat top batteries?
You would use it when using the extra battery tube and multiple batteries.

I thought it might be a magnet too. Tested it, no magnetic properties... Doesn't stick to the fridge, metal, or anything. I'm just not sure what it is. But like I said, it came in it's own bag. Does not fit in any of the holes or ports on the laster. Not the aperture, pawer input, kill switch... anything. Maybe it was a fluke.

Edit: thought it was for the batteries too. Didn't fit in the battery compartment.

Huh, that's weird. Looks like the older version of the focusing markings. It's an honour btw, gozert :)
Maybe email Gray at jetlasers to see what the disc is for, I have no idea either. Hell, there are still things on my Pl-E Pro that I've no idea what they do :p, I'm gonna email too.

It looks pretty much the same as the temporary on/off button. Although it would have to have a ledge on one side to prevent it from falling out. I guess your best bet is emailing Gray about it, he'll probably know.

Hawk, are you sure it doesn't fit in the battery barrel? It really looks like it should...

I just opened up mine and can't find any possible clues as to where the disc would fit. It's probably just a part meant to fit somewhere inside the laser.

I mean like, does it fit in the tube regardless? Is the diameter of the disc smaller than that of the battery tube. Cause if so its very likely to be used for if the user is using flat top batteries. And it seems like it should fit in there.

He claims it to be about 5mm wide, so fitting it inside the battery tube wouldn't be a problem. The thing is though. If it was intended to be used as a battery spacer to make flat top batteries connect, then it would have been magnetic. Otherwise there's no way you're going to have that disc stick onto the batteries.

You're right, if forgot about that. I'm baffled then.
