Did you receive it? do you know if the 950mA lower limit is for the set max pot or if it applies to the analog modulation as well?

Same as the 20 and 25mm just different diameter.

The 12mm module is 30.5mm long with hollow copper/aluminum back half, 26mm long with solid copper back half. ( long )
The 20mm module is 26mm long with solid copper back half and 30.5mm with solid copper back half that has the driver pocket milled out, also 30.5mm long with the aluminum back half.
25mm module is 26mm long with no driver pocket and 30.5 long with driver pocket.
35mm module is 26mm long with solid copper back half ( no pocket ) ......I don't have a 35 with pocket so I don't know if it's longer or not but I expect it is.
Why is this important to you ? Is this a critical measurement ?

yes, its a tight fit for what I'm trying to do. It may not be doable.

The solid copper back half has a little ring pedestal that mates with the diodes backing plate to move heat away, for the 5+ watt diodes it's a good idea to use the solid back half, but the length is the same for the hollow back half.
The front half has a shelf/seat for the diodes backing plate to seat and move heat away, there will be a small gap between the front and back when the diode is installed which is normal, it means the diode is seated.
You will need to press the diode into the seat, DTR sells a seating tool that you can use with a c-clamp or a vise.

DTR diode press sets are out of stock. But you can find a member to press you diode in the module who has the press sets.

I fear that dtr's site will eventually shut down. This whole hobby seems to be shutting down. It's not like it was when I first joined.Hi,

Just because two items are out of stock on the DTR site means nothing. Flamingpyro used to machine those press kits , Jeff hasn't been around for some time now. He is mostly into pyrotechnics and a group of his buddies make them. Then they spend time out in the desert .
DTR sells all over the world to our hobby. Those press kits are rare now , but my crystal ball said buy at a time and I purchased 6 sets, excluding the 20,25,35 presses. No problem here. This hobby is alive and well and doing fine.

Its a good thing DTR supplies a service to purchase modules with diodes already pressed-in.
Will the Survival Laser diode presses work for larger modules (larger than 12mm)?

Hi,
You willl need a 20mm or a 25mm sleeve to use the 12mm presses in them. The front half screws into the sleeve then you slide in the 12mm press.

Yes, it's easy for it to slip, I used to press diodes with a small socket and a careful hand, but using the sleeve is better.
Also you want to lay a piece of scrap aluminum on the face of the module to protect it in your vise.
