200mW red laser from lazerer not burning matches?

So I just got my battery today for my 200mW laser from lazerer and I tried burning multiple matches and nothing happened, not even smoke. I'm not sure if there is some trick to or something like the focus but I just put the focus to the smallest dot and pointed it at the match and it did nothing.

any tips? I know lazerer wouldn't sell me a shit laser, they are known for sending over overspec lasers

Hello Warstrike :)

If you did in fact put fully charged batteries and focus the laser at it's best the only other explanation is you did in fact receive an under-spec laser.

Although uncommon it does happen in almost all laser companies. Best course of action would be to contact Lazerer and tell them if there is anything else they could suggest

I swear to god if they sent me a underspec laser I'm going to flip shit. The laser is bright as fuck and goes far, but I wanted it to burn something at least. I pointed it at a match and held it for like 10 seconds and no smoke came up.

The battery is fresh and new, got it in them morning in my mail and put it in

Alright. May I ask how much you payed for it? Would you also have a link to it?

Thanks :san:

Alright thank you :)

I looked through other people's reviews and it seems they received an over-spec'ed laser. I really believe you did in fact receive a under-spec laser. I would e-mail Laserer and see if anything can be done.

Best of luck!

I emailed max about 10 minutes ago, he replied. He stated that I did infact receive a 200mW laser and watch this video to learn how to adjust focus

How do you know that you got a 200mw when you paid for a 100mw. Do you have an LPM or purchase a power chart? Also keep in mind that Lazerer only guarantees 80% of the declared power (so your laser may only be 80mw).

Well Warstrike,

Just because he tells you you received 200mW dosen't mean you did in fact receive 200mW.

If it cannot even burn even when properly focused and with completely fresh batteries I doubt the unit is even 100mW :undecided:

The thing is, he told me that the 100mW was sold out and they send out higher ones, I see no reason for him to lie. And I was focusing it wrong, I was using the smallest dot and I was being a idiot and not using up close.

Ahhhh I see. Is it easier for it to burn now? Any effect?

Unfortunately, the only way to accurately tell the power is to send it to a member with an LPM. If it can't even light a black tipped match when focused, though, I highly doubt that it is 200mw (but then again, you only paid for 100).

Would you have dropped it, put the battery in backwards, left it on for too long, etc.?

I did not correctly focus it, and I trust lazerer. Haven't heard of anyone getting a underspec laser from lazerer.

I never left it on for to long, and the battery was put in perfectly. I haven't tried focusing it to upclose and putting the match at the focal point, but I'm going to soon.

Focus it like this and put the match where the beam is thinnest. It should light almost immediately, regardless of color.

Also, I sent you a PM

EDIT:
Well in all honesty it dosen't matter how long you left it on.

Red Diode Lasers do not release any heat compared to DPSS lasers, you can leave a 200mW 650nm all day without any effects.

Since when do diode lasers not produce heat?

Replied, and I assume this is not the smallest dot? In the video the guy said to focus it so the dot is very big. Is that correct?

If I make the dot very small, I do not see a focal point
