1W Green/Blue lasers!

I found this on the wiki while searching some info about laser Diodes and ratings.

Theres gonna be a new kind of Optical Drive Burner coming out that will be able to burn discs that can hold 3.9 TBs, the optical drive itself will use 1W green or BLUE laser for the burning, and 1W red laser for reading.

They are still in a prototype state, and like all tech they should go down in price in a few years, so that might be a goody bag to get, 2 1W visible lasers in one drive .

I didn't know if someone had mentioned this already on the forums, but just in case, i thought it was something cool to know.

Yea I heard about those. Man, I would looovvee to get my hands on some of those.

Like some of the "newer" red drives, They will probably have a LD in some form difficult to extract and use. I don't think our gov't likes us experimenting with lasers and is trying behind the curtain to make it almost impossible. Those are some wierd red LD's people have found.

Shame they had to skip blue and green and go right to 405nm for reading discs.

I told ya man, it wont be long before we'll have weapons grade lasers in our Play Stations...
