I got this red laser off cregslist for free. The only markings I could find on it are "serial 146376" and "laser products 435 so. pacific st. san marcos. CA 92069"

Probably a Helium Neon based on the brick type power supply taped to it and the tube.

Yeah... I concur... It is probably a HeNe about 1-3mW judging by the length of the tube.
and the slender brick PS looks to be powered by 12VDC (Red and Black leads)..

@Rangedunits.... what are you talking about.... :-X

Its just that the keyboard does not fit the background with a recent laptop next to it.

OmniKey is the best keyboards ever made. You could kill someone with them too cus they are like 5lbs. It also make that click when you type. ^_^

Love them old-school keyboards.. I use an old HP keyboard that came with one of their servers. I love it. It's sturdy, makes a good click, and as was said previously it can be used to beat down any intruders. I'm fairly sure it is capable of outliving me..

I have several IBM Model M keyboards, circa 1989 or so.. I'm typing on one right now.

Model M's weigh about 7lbs and have a thick stainless steel backplane in them. They're built to industrial standards, and no keyboard made in the last 10 years comes anywhere near the quality of the Model M.

Mine here at work is indeed starting to show signs of age.. It's starting to go beige-ish, though despite 20 years of continuous use it's still working great to this day. I recently read up on some ways of re-whitening old yellowed hardware.. Apparently it's not all that hard... Here's the link: http://hackaday.com/2009/03/02/restoring-yellowed-computer-plastics/

Oh yeah, and as for the actual topic of this thread, yeah, it's a he-ne.
