A minor correction is needed here. Diachi means to say 2114 power supplies, as 2214 power supplies do not exist. The second digit being a 2 denotes a laser head, while a 1 denotes a power supply.

Woops, my bad! You're perfectly correct. Will update that.

I probably shouldn't give out advice or information at 1:30AM after 5 or 6 beers...

Buffo (Adam) is head honcho for SELEM members close to you who would be happy test your Argon at no cost.
RB Gas is one member IIRC. Even w/o a PS a coil can be used to find if it will lase again.

If the head is DOA and the PS as well-- many here will tell you about buying many to just have one pairing that works.
Not the best way. We have a thread here for on-line deals mostly Greedbay but any source is postable. The majority go along w/ the 'dibbs' system-- otherwise the item is up for grabs== MANY big gas lasers are offered at awesome numbers BUT only those close enough to pick up are normally interested. So checking (subscribing) that thread is wise. Several of our best gas laser vets sorta run the thread and have been doing a outstanding job-- not much gets missed and its rare that they get stumped.. its in the BS&T section-stickied...

btw --its expected that all will follow thru so we all know the 'ending' did it arrive? ..work? ....how many mW? etc.

and.. we consider it to be just good manners to post finds for others and not constantly dibbing finds by others..(links)

REMEMBER= if you do not call dibbs-it will be considered to be open.

Have not bought a PS yet. I am looking at that thread in the little free time I have at the moment. Something else has arisen and it will be taking up my free time for a while, so I have not had lasers as my main focus. As for dibs, I suppose I'm calling it on this PS: https://www.ebay.com/itm/112521476613 , but I'm not really sure how dibs work here. When I get this other thing finished, then I may be buying the PSU. I will update if I buy the PS, or I find someone to help me test my laser head, when I do have the time to ask around. Transportation is going to be an issue though... I certainly do intend to follow up with the progress of my laser, progress is just slow at the moment.

"Dids" is only for items up for auction. All you have to do is buy this before someone else does. Seems like a reasonable price for an argon PS. If you need it, buy it before someone else beats you to it.

He claims a 30 day DOA return on it, so I suspect it is working. I thought it was a steal too.

I thought so, that's why I bought it. If it is dead, I will have a word with the seller before I dig in to it to try and repair it. Even though there's a DOA warranty, the return shipping isn't in my budget at the moment (The shipping on that PSU is $60). Fingers crossed that it works. I will update when it arrives.

That sounds high for shipping that PS. Is it coming from half way around the world? USP or FEDEX should give lower prices to ship it in the states.

Hakzaw wanted me to post a picture of my laser. Ignore the thin black cord and the fan its attached to, I am using a different fan now. You can also ignore the tiny red diode module in the middle, for obvious reasons.

Its coming from California, via UPS. The fact that it weighs 30 pounds probably contributes quite a bit to that cost, I imagine.

FYI double posting is frowned upon (unless it's been a while between posts, such as a couple days), you should use the multi-quote button to reply to multiple people or use the edit button to update your last post. :)

Shipping on these sure can be expensive, what's the shipping time? I wouldn't expect it to be that expensive unless you got a fast shipping option.

What fan do you have on the head now?

Thanks for the tip. The double post has been corrected. I will do my very best to not do it again. :)

By the way, @diachi, How would I get the attention of the people who have replied to my thread? I have some updates on the laser, and I would rather not double post again.

The shipping time is anywhere between 2 and 7 business days. I imagine it will be closer to the latter. It was the least expensive shipping option the seller was offering, so I went with that. I'll edit this post with the estimated shipping time when I know what it may be.

The fan I am using is actually an 'over the range' microwave oven exhaust blower. I can post a picture of the setup in a day or two, I'm using the fan for something else at the moment. I don't know the exact CFM rating of the microwave blower, but I can tell you its quite high when on low, and almost ridiculous when on high.

Possibly important update: this laser has way fewer hours on it than I thought it did. I read the hour counter wrong. It has between 8500 and 8600 hours. My original reading was off by 1000 hours. I also checked to see if the bore of the laser is clear, and it is.
