I am desperately trying to find out about how to rewire my exciter be used again with an original 164 tube. IT was reconfigured for a Lexel tube I guess Lexel before being bought out by Cambridge lasers made a replacement tube for the 164 argon head. I would like to rewire it for the original tube. Please someone help. thanks Tom

PM LSRFAQ on here or Mixedgas on Photonleixon.com (Same person). Might have an easier time reaching him on PL. He's the resident expert on all things gas. He'll know what you need to do.

I'm guessing he might take slightly more than four minutes to reply.

I TRIED TO CONTACT HIM FOR MONTHS :yabbmad: I contacted SAM I called Spectra Physics,Brian who now owns it told me to contact him and gave me his email address and then SAMs FAQ gave me his address. I joined this forum in hopes he may contact me here as Isee a lot of great posts from him sans any smart ass crap that is the main reason I like his posts I don't like wise asses and I am sincerely trying to get this laser up and running if possible. thank you for your comment Tom

Are you trying to contact Sam or Steve? Steve is LSRFAQ/Mixedgas. Not sure if Sam has an account here or on PL... Steve contributed heavily to the Laser FAQ.

Try posting on Photonlexicon too, he's more likely to respond to the thread over there. There's a couple other folk over there that may know what to do too.

Ahh very good, yeah, he's the man for the job. Hopefully he gets back to you. He's often very busy with work and other projects mind you.

Don't worry about the name, he uses his first name on posts all the time.

Sam was handing out the wrong email. However , I hate to be mean, but if you could not open an account at the other forum, or find me in one of the four other places on the net, I'm going to be questioning your ability to change the laser over. You have to change the main connector and re-connect the igniter on a Lexel Beta-1 conversion. That is what its called, a "Beta" tube when the factory did this for clients. The easiest thing is to chop the existing cable and solder on the new connector. Then un-mod the igniter.

Boom Tish...

Hello. Okay thank you for the advice. I bought another exciter and it wasn't modified for the Lexel tube as my original was. So that is not a big worry any longer. As per contacting you I was told by Sam and by the nice folks on this forum and lastly but certainly not least, Brian at Cambridge who
also told me to contact you as you were very knowledged in the Gas/Ion lasers and knew the Lexel modification as he was very humble and told me that he didn't know much on that particular modification but said it was a matter of swapping the anode wire and the cathode wire he didn't own Lexel at that time. So I contacted you. I have no earthly idea what I could have ever done to get such a hurtful uncharitable negative response like the one you sent. I am very hurt and I do take it VERY personally and yes it was VERY mean and unwanted, also if you "hated" to be mean you wouldn't have posted that garbage in the first place. I am sorry for offending you I am sorry I don't have the knowledge that you possess and that my ignorance off puts you. I also would never ever in my wildest dreams ever I mean EVER join your stupid forums nor ever bother you again. In fact you can take your knowledge your forums your lasers and well nevermind. I do hope that someone does talk to you the way you did me so maybe you would understand the HURT you caused me I forgive it and I pray that whatever has bothered you to write such uncharitable garbage you did me, that you get it healed God bless you and have a great life. Tom.
