I think I'm going to run mine outside for that very reason. I have my eye on that Harbor Freight 10 gauge
extension cord for this and other things. Of course our Australian friends don't have this problem right
now. :wave:

Got my first Argon today and fired it up . . . . . .AWSOME! A laserphysics 488nm. Not gonna wait another month to do it again though, might go and fire it up one more time before bed!

I went over 8 months on firing mine up again and the next time I had to troubleshoot the damn interlock again. It is so finicky about what gets plugged in and in what order! And then the 40 second delay. The first two times it never came on, so I unplugged everything and then carefully redid all the connections and basically followed the manual(I keep it on my phone now) and she turned on just fine.

Ran mine the other day for the first time in about seven months. Fired up instantly and like new. This model is known for excellent shelf life though.

Just make sure everything is hooked up before plugging it in. It checks it on receiving power.

Good stuff huh? Enjoy your new toy. Just don't turn it on and off a lot. Every time you start it you damage the filament. If you're only away a short time just let it idle, instead of killing the discharge. And it's usually recommended to always run it in light-monitor-mode to help cancel oscillations, which damage the tube.

Ok, so how often is a lot? Also what is "light-monitor-mode" There does not seem to be much to adjust here, On/off and Low power/High power. When I turn the key off it cuts the output and keeps running until it cools down then shuts itself off. Thanks!

I think you need to build/buy a remote interface to do what he said as it is only on there I have a button for it
