Hey ,

Well after a while of the head sitting on my floor as im currently looking for a PSU I decided to build a simple , very simple setup to test the tube and see if it works .

The circuit is from sams LaserFAQ and is intended for testing only .

The 568nm output looks green on the camera but is a yellow/green in person .

Tube current was 5A and a external 12V to control ignitor ( Opto isolated on the ignitor card )

Test under RF to see if gas was intact and 568nm photons from the HR end Brewster , There is also a blue light that passes though the HR , if I get a working PSU I would like to see if any other wavelengths can be seen with a external Ar/Kr OC and the current power as well .

more photos to follow : D

Same. I love 568... It's rather far more yellow than 561. Yet still green. It's very strange. Glad to see its gas intact afterall.

Can't stop looking at that beautiful green glow.

It is nice to look at : D , shame its not a real view of the colour , shows up very green on camera

Look forward to seeing this up and running!

Thanks , I have done a few tests , it starts on the first ignition pulse too : D

First time ive ever seen 568nm , looks like a green/yellow mix , Thanks .

Here are a few more shots of it running , last picture Is the bridge , caps , current monitor and the DC current limit ( 6A , Old air heater ) .

Are you direct driving the tube or are you using any of the head electronics at all? I'm amazed you got the printout mastered so easily.

Btw, put a bit of 532 or 514 in the frame and the 568 will show through more true.

Thanks , Ill try that soon : D

Pretty much directly , current is limited to 6A via heater element , its crude but works for testing , the only form of control im using in the head is the ignitor , it gets it voltage from the anode supply and doesn't need a boost supply , I plan to make a simple current regulator to run the tube happily for now till a find the proper PSU

When a voltage is applied to the anode , the ignitor keeps firing till a 12-15V supply is connected to pin 8/12 , that controls a opto and it stops firing .

im using 6 connections on the head , cathode 1 , cathode 22 , ignitor 8 / 12 , anode 6 and case earth

I got the pinouts mainly from google and tracing it from the RYB Omni I had that was dead .

Edit - Tried the external OC , managed to get the green 514 line by the looks of it , the HR on the tube leaks a lot of blue so I guess that wont lase .

Edit 2 - Well I replaced the mirrors as that was my original plan , Both the HR and OC are from the RYB I had , after some tweaking it lases on the yellow 568nm line and 2 blue lines . looks to be 488nm and something else . Stupidly made the mistake of moving the wrong screw and lost alignment so ill sit down and do it properly at some point . It did make a very a nice " White beam " though : D

I also measured voltages , the tube is dropping 156 Volts at 6 amps , heater is drop 144 Volts , Supply at caps is 300 Volts .

nice. I've been playing with the alignment on mine, and I still don't get any red. get tons of 568 and a few blues though....
