I have acquired an Enterprise II ArIon laser. A massive water cooled toy.
Anyone have schematics, pin out info or knowledge to help start this big puppy running?

can you post pictures of any connectors that are currently left unoccupied after the laser in plugged in?

Usually with these systems, a remote interface isn't necessary like it is with the smaller ones, since these often run as standalone units rather than being installed in DNA sequencers like the smaller ones.

Have you tried to just plug it in and fire it up?

Also, what does the wavelength say on the sticker?

Thanks Gus ---
It was delivered late today to the welding shop - I took only one picture then went for whisky! The power cable has BIG connectors plus a DB25 (I think) -- There are two smaller DB style connectors on the rear but I forget how they are labeled.
This is a model 611 and I hope I can "tune" it to multi line or 488.

611... you lucky guy!! that is a cool laser.

There are some pros and cons to it...

The biggest con is that it uses sealed mirrors.

Sealed mirrors mean that you will NOT be able to change the wavelenth :cryyy:

The GOOD NEWS, is that the model 611 is a 458nm laser!!! That is my FAVORITE argon line of all. I would love a 458-only laser. Another con is that it is relatively low powered. I think it is rated at 80mW of 458. BUT, I would guess that at full tilt it will do around 200mW (or could even be more! This is purely a guess) of gorgeous 458nm blue.

Please post some pictures once you get it going... I love 458nm lasers! The only way for me to get 458 by itself is to put in my prism assembly onto my 168 and tune it for 458, which is a bit of a pain in the butt.

Here is a picture for reference... I just LOVE the color...

Gus --

I put the new 240 Volt plug on today and THEN noticed that I don't have a key for the power :-( I will hotwire it or put in a new switch but I have to get into the gutz of the PS.....
I was hoping for more power and planned to adjust the wavelength on this but -- Oh well --- 7 KW input for 80 mW out seems a waste! Is 200 mW max out at 7 KW in ??

Also, where can I find pin outs for the PS connectors? One is for heater and the other is Aux.

heater? Hmmm.... maybe it's for an etalon or something... but I doubt it since it doesnt have external mirrors... kinda weird.

It is possible that you may be able to get more lines out if it has external mirrors. You'll have to open it up to check, but I'm 99% sure it uses sealed mirrors.

As far as the power output, it is possible that it will do more, but 458 is a pretty low-gain line, although it is simply beautiful. The kind of colors you can produce in a projector with 458 is amazing.

The key thing should be pretty easy, probably just a couple wires. You can always try to see if you have a key that will fit, as sometimes those key mechanisms aren't super specific as far as the pattern on the key is concerned

I've tried all my keys and none fit in. If someone here has an Enterprise II, Please make a copy of your key. I'll gladly pay for it because the key switch in down in a hell hole in the PS. Even a number off the key would help.

Mike, send me a picture of the lock type. I have pretty much every laser key there is, and I would be happy to give you one if I can figure what it is.

Ben --

I'll take pix tomorrow -- the laser is at the welding shop.
You may have to send a selection which I'll return to you after I copy a working one.
That PS weighs about 90 pounds and I don't like picking it up to go to a locksmith.

Thanks for the help.

Ben --
The key from my Uniphase sorta works !!! I had a couple coppies made today. I still need to know if I will need a jumper to power this up. I hate to put water to it and find a jumper is missing.

You shouldn't need a jumper. Give 'er the juice and see what happens!

Gussss -- You da Man ---

I'm about ready to give it fire at the welding shop.... We have the power there !!
I'm making up my water hoses and I want to see BLUE.......
The power supply has a multi-turn power pot. I'll start easy and crank it up.
If it lights up, I'll take interior photos like YOU....

Congratulations on the purchase Mike! I am really looking forward to those pictures :)
I have never seen a 458nm laser in real life..

Jaseth ----
I've never "seen" one yet either. Wish you were here to carry the SOB " :)
I will likely move it with the forklift. I can pick up the PS but I guess it near 90 pounds. The head is near 60 pounds and all for 80 mW of BLUE.
