Hi guys I a HeNe laser, I'm not sure if its a good deal but I'm pretty happy with the price. It will arrive in about 4-5 days so I will post some pics when it arrives.

Edit:
The laser just arrived! I did originally buy it to sell and make some cash but I just cant do it (I think I'm in love lol).
It says Spectra Physics 156 Lasers, but I can't find any information on it and I cant find a date.
The previous owner said it is 633nm and 1mw nominal output, the colour looks sort of orangeish.
It cost me £18.50/$31 in total, but enough about that here are some pics.

Here are some pics of the labels and the laser tube.

Re: My soon new to be HeNe

Nice Looks like a model 155. I had one of those a wile back. I had to sell it my senior year because I was strapped for cash :( I still regret it.
Those lasers have a sidearm HeNe in them that looks like this.

Re: My soon new to be HeNe

That looks like my OLD Spectra Physics 155.
It died long ago and has an odd tube configuration.
If it doesn't work, you may be able to acquire
another "simple" tube to install in that housing.

Re: My soon new to be HeNe

congrats! I hope it arrived safely and in good working order... if so, that's a great deal. Keep us posted on how things are going with it!

That's a helluva nice laser for what you paid! Love the pics looking into the housing.

I have never seen pictures of a sidearm hene working before. Cool pics, and great price, too! Would make for a cool lamp, id think :)

I was thinking the same thing but I want to keep mine how it is, if I didn't order the parts for a 3W 445nm, I probably would have bought another HeNe from ebay I have seen some Spectra Physics 155's for around £50/$84.

Nice laser :)

If i'm not mistaken, it is the same tube as the 155 in fact. I love the look of excited HeNe gas. Now you just need one of these :tinfoil:

Nice SP laser and for a great price.

I need to get a 155 or 156. Nice, simple and totally self contained. :) I love the shots with the end cap off but the housing on. Very cool effect.

I do have a 127 like the one pictured and thats my favorite SP sidearm although I will never understand their numbering system. Explain a 125 vs 127 vs 155.

But the glow on a 127 will light up a room, it is unbeatable! (unless you find a soft seal 125 that's still working or something?)

Nice laser :)

If i'm not mistaken, it is the same tube as the 155 in fact, just the anode is in a different place. the 156 excites only a part of the bore, where the 155 uses all of it. (more power) I love the look of excited HeNe gas. Now you just need one of these :tinfoil:

We had a 125A at the lab until recently. That thing is monstrous! The 127 is a nicer laser in my opinion and much easier on the eyes. Melles griot has a nice laser that's similar now and is quite comparable too. Only seen one I pics, but it looks pretty epic.

I've only seen pics of the 125A, I'd love to see one working.

I know somebody makes a 35+ mw 4' still. But, from the specs, I didn't see any difference from the 127 (other than price, of course)

a smaller 155 would be really nice to play with, because its plug and play, like the 127, fully self contained.

In general, the 127 is the one to get, if you can. Best output, polarized and nice looking. Only problem are finding one at a decent price and DON"T ship it. I looked almost 2 years for mine, then hand carried it home. :)
