Sweet! Now reflect it off of a DVD to see if it breaks up into different color lines.

If you do not have goggles, be very careful with this.

Peace,
dave

Probably not. If your goggles are for green, they are also probably good for blue. If they were specifically for the argon, they are good. I just don't remember you mentioning any goggles, so I thought I would mention it.

What color lines it breaks up into will tell us quite a lot about the laser

Peace,
dave

Sweet! You have a multi-line argon ion laser. There is no way to tell what the output is without a laser power meeter, but you have nice light there to play with.

If you want to, you can adjust the mirrors until the light is as bright as you can get it, but as long as it is lasing, you are good to go

Peace,
dave

Sounds like you've got yourself a hell of a laser there.. VERY nice. I'd bet that's multimode.. If you run the beam through a magnifying glass you'll be able to see the beam profile on a nearby wall. Here's a chart of some types of output modes found in gas lasers:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Laguerre-gaussian.png

The actual beam profile will probably not be so well-defined, but you should be able to see several alternating lighter and darker patches in the beam profile. If it's singlemode, the output will look like figure 00, also known as TEM00 with only one spot.

Hmm. From what I can tell, with a little research, Mirror Set F147/B073 (front/back) is a "two line", 488nm cyan and 515nm blue.
So maybe it's *not* that. Maybe F147/B091 is full multiline? (458-528?) Hmm. interesting. Your shot though -looks- like two color; 488 and 515. And we know that these mirror sets do have "two color 488/515 variants" -- which is what your shot looks like.

Will keep looking.
