A guy I work with game it to me cause he lost the key. I slapped a toggle switch in it and spliced a few wires and it works. I did a little research but still not really sure what is could be used for. Any info would be great! I got the original boxes and everything for it. Only thing missing is the top part of the power supply case. I'll upload some pics when I get home.

It says 35mW and 633nm

It's amazing how they just slap a lazerdrive brick in there and repackage it and charge an arm and a leg, isn't it?

As for uses, there's little outside of a lab, so just enjoy it. Lovely photons from these units.

Nice. I got a steal of a deal on one of these back in July. Seeing the inside of your PSU makes me glad I just bought a brick style supply for mine. Also reminds me I need to get an inline fuse holder before I can solder up the permanent cord to to it.

As Sig said unless you're into holography these tubes aren't good for a whole lot other than admiring their amazing color and beam profile.

Yeah. I'm sure it obvious I don't know much about lasers but I took it out tonight and shined it down the street towards a friend that drive about 3/4 mile and he saw it hitting the stop sign clear as day. I could see the beam going away but he could see it coming towards him the whole way!

Also all I had to do was replace the 30a fuse and bypass the fuse/safety device on the back. Not sure what the plug on the back is for but it looked like some kind of external fuse or safety thing

Its an external interlock so it can be wired to a lab door or something similar. In the Optic lab that i visit everything is jacked into the door frame, so if you open a door the lasers all go out or into standby for safety for example, so the person entering doesn't get an eye full

and yeah they just slap a HV brick in there and then fuse and make it compliant and license it. then upcharge it by twice the amount or more in the case of uniphase...but melles griot and voltex ones, and some spectra physics models include control boards, EMI filters, rapid bleed off, and other features...so it depends on the supply. I love my 1145P and its 25.5mW output! though most of them I see do 21-22 ish.
