I was scanning through eBay this morning and stumbled on those interesting items...

search for item: 230455123821
POWER TECHNOLOGY HeNe LASER POWER SUPPLY L92AZ
It has a starting bid of $4.99, it's a 110/220v brick PS with alden plugs and delivers 2400v. i would have bid on it but the seller only ships to the US. :(

search for item: 390177514925
JDSU HeNe Laser head 1107-1110
starting bid at $12.99. Worldwide shipping

search for item: 160419026090
Argon Laser JDS Uniphase 2212-4SLRO Verified Working
BIN bid at $39.99... I would have definitely bought this item at that price, sadly, shpping only in the US.

One day, i'll be the proud owner of an argon laser... one day... (sigh)...

Nice finds Robert..

The problem with that Argon is that the Power Supply is not
included... and I don't know how easy or expensive it is to
find one..

PSU's for that argon are regularly available on eBay. They average about $100. Y'all's problem is the damnable shipping costs. The laser weighs about 12 pounds packaged and the PSU weighs about 20 pounds packaged. You end up paying ~$100 for shipping!

If you're in the market for a low-powered, single-line (488nm) and are willing to carry the shipping, I have an argon with PSU and a fan available for $150 plus shipping. If you can use a 220V PSU, I will discount the price $25.

Hey Dave... I'm not looking for an Argon myself...:D
I was just informing Robert about the missing PS...

@ Robert... if you really want an Argon.... I'd go with
Daves deal... but you will need to look at across the
border Duty/Taxes/Brokerage fees and the Shipping
costs as Dave mentioned...

Sorry. I forget that not everyone speaks "hick talk."

The post and offer was for "y'all" (pronounced yawl). It probably would have been even more appropriate to have said "all a' y'all" (pronouncced allahyawll) :p

It is a public offering.

I'm sure Hakzaw understood ;)

Peace,
dave

P.S. You know the difference between a Northern girl and a Southern girl?

A Northern girl says, "You can come to my place after the bar closes."

A Southern girls says, "Y'all can come to my place after the bar closes."

IIRC, HZ is from Texas (pronounced teyhas).

That's that big "hangy down part" in the middle of the US that we stole from Mexico (pronounced meheecoh)

Thats prolly it-- I use ya'll a lot:D trying to fit n here in TX--but I am from Ohio originally and it is said that we have no accent but down here getting branded as a Yankee can be a bad thing--it the chamealon in me.:)----------------

Dave's deal on the SL is truly a bargain --that PS in the photo is known as the 'gold' model due to the color and is the most desirable of them all as it can go from110v to 220 v with a filp of the red switch on it. I paid much more for my argons and most came without the fan-- another plus. And Dave customer support is second to none. I would be getting it it if I did not already have some I need to sell--ya'll have a nice holiday weekend ya hear!!:thanks:--HZ

Well Dave, it is indeed extremely tempting... but i'm a bit tight financially 'till the month of May. I'm taking a well-deserved vacation to Gettysburg PA for a music festival and have put aside all my expendable income for the trip.

But after the beginning of May, if that argon is still available, by God I think I'll grab it! If not, don't worry 'bout it and don't lose a sale because of me, but definitely, i'll feel all grownup if I ever own an argon! (thinking of the Four Season's "Walk Like A Man") ;)

Anyway, thanks for the "epic" offer :D

What kind of voltage does an argon like that take?

The PSU with this unit can use from 90V-240V. You can see the switches for voltage range on the front at the bottom.

I have another PSU that only takes 200V-240V that is offered at a discount. I don't have 220V available here and the recent drastic increase in international shipping cots have pretty much cut out the major 220V markets.

About 80-90V IIRC.

Dave, have you looked inside the 220V PSUs? They sometimes have switches/jumpers inside that convert it between 120V and 240V.

But what is the output voltage to the argon?

There is lots of information about the JDSU argons in Sam's Laser FAQ

Yes. I have looked. At a minimum there is no easy switch on the unit I have.
