Hello,

I want to buy my first gas laser. But i don't know what is good. Because i know nothing about gas lasers.
I was searching on ebay for gas lasers and i found this laser.
I know 1mw is not verry much:yh:. But it is stil a gas laser:evil:. The mirrors are verry cool to for experimenting.
Hene Laser and EHT PSU. Optics for YAG, Diode and DPSS - eBay, Telescopes, Binoculars Telescopes, Photography. (Eindtijd 09-jan-10 00:29:45 CET)

Is this a good buy? Or shall i search for another laser?

It looks like a good buy. The price is decent but affordable, you could probably get a 1mW system for a bit cheaper. The optics however are a big plus for this type of thing and will prove to be useful at some point in time.

Yep thats not a bad buy - some of those optics, especially the polygon scanner; will produce some interesting effects. I would suggest enclosing that power supply and tube in a suitable box though. The bite from the supply, although not lethal, would be pretty painful, and may cause you to react in a way doing further injury.

Oke, i think i will buy this.

I never bought something before on ebay. Ebay says that it cost £29 (€32,18). Is that the real price? Or must i pay more for the shipping(I live in the netherlands)? How do i buy something on ebay?

Hi,
Yes, you will be expected to pay extra to cover the costs of postage. Make sure you know what that costs before you commit yourself to the purchase. You will need to register with ebay before you can buy and then to pay for it, you will need to sign up to Paypal which is probably the easiest way to make 'across the border' payments.
Good luck with it!
Rob.

ALWAYS check for shipping costs BEFORE bidding, and if the shipping price is not declared, be also more cautious, and always ask the seller for know it for your country ..... and with the sellers that never reply to these questions, NEVER buy anything from hem.

I've found a lot of times some scams like these of the "shipping prices" trick ..... items auctioned with, as example, 50$, with shipping fees of 100 or 150 $ ..... and, bidding, you take an obligation to pay both the price and the shipping, so be cautious with this particular type of ebay fraud .....

Basically, the shipping price from an honest seller is a fraction of the value of the object ..... when it approach the object value, it already start to smell bad, and when it's more than the object value, usually is a fraud .....

This particular unit is a supermarket (or similar) barcode scanner, with an 1mW tube, the PSU and some optics ..... and the auction says shipping in UK, and shipping fee 14 £ ..... honest enough, as shipping price, considering how do you have to pack gas lasers for make them survive to the postal system :p ..... but it say shipping only in UK, so, for other countries, you have to ask the seller and require a price .....

I got response from the seller. He asked £29 for the product + £45 for shipment.
I think that that is to much for a 1mw laser. I cancelled the deal.

I can't find any cheap gas lasers on ebay(or i'm a bad searcher:p)
Who can help me to find a cheap gas laser for beginners? The total price(shipping+product) must be under the 60 euro ($86).

I've got a good one here (3mW) with a PSU (that will take 110V or 220V) that will fit into a Priority Mail medium flat rate box. Where are you located? I'll figure out the postage and get you a total cost.

Peace,

Yes. It is a 632nm HeNe.

$35 for the laser/PSU and $30 for shipping = Total $65

The laser and PSU have Alden plugs. The wiring and plugs between the PSU and the Laser is ~60cm long. The PSU has "flying leads" (~20cm long) You will have to attach a plug (and cord?) to plug it into the wall. I will include a color code for wiring the PSU for 230V.

No "optics" with this one, but it's a better laser and PSU for less ;)

If this is OK for you, click on my name and send me a Private Message. We'll arrange payment

dave
