Many of you have seen videos of it burning and cutting things, but the tube itself is also quite a marvel. Here's my tossed-together setup showing tube, control box, thermometer, reservoir (old juice bottle), power supply, pump, and radiator.

What the longest you have run it at full power
 
Very impressive, it looks like it makes big holes in steel. How do you avoid specular reflections that would burn your flesh?

There are none unless you're burning metal in which case you angle it away from you.

I've run it for 10 minutes once before. There's really no need to have it on for more than a few seconds though. With the radiator fan on, it can be run indefinitely.
 
Does that power supply need a balast resistor in the anode circuit?
Do you focus the laser or just use the raw beam?

That depends. I usually focus it though. No ballast resistor required. It it current controlled.
 
sure if you have a F.L.I.R. unit or similar camera! That would be cool.
