Hi guys!

first of all, I'd like to thank Ryansoh3, hakzaw1, and ARG for previous consultation and abundance information you gave. It was very kind of you to share such info.

anyway, does anybody know where to find a large ZnSe plane parallel laser grade window with 10cm diameter and 2-3 mm thickness? I've been searching in ebay, amazon, with no result, some can build one but they are located in China and they are on a rather long chinese new year holiday.

or is there other than ZnSe window that can pass and withstand an unfocused, raw 8mm wide CO2 laser with lower price tag so I don't need to sell my kidney to get one :D

thank you in advance!

Sorry I didn't get back to your PM, been extremely busy. I personally haven't seen any ZnSe windows that size for sale either, however another method you could look into is a salt window. I can't remember 100% how you make them, but they work great for 10.6um.

It's okay Dan, I heard there was some extreme weather in Australia recently, hope you're okay.

Thank you very much! I think I will use that.

Is there any reason this isn't close enough?

yes

Sorry I never got back to you

I will frequently check an email right after waking up while in half-sleep mode, and forget about it within minutes...

I'll get back to you right away.

GaAs is also another CO2 wavelength transmitting material, you could try searching for that.

Check out: AR-Coated Windows: CO2 Laser Optics

thank you, GaAs has low efficiency in passing the laser, but I will consider that option.
