I wish I could....I have to work with what I have, the standard US outlet mains..I think 110.....

...I did test between pins 9 & 22 and got a reading of 1.3-1.4mV....this is with the laser on and my "controller" attached, though the pot does not seem to do anything, except a VERY SLIGHT dim in the output dot.

It's looking more and more like a mirror misalignment, but i'm still getting a nice blue 'dot' although no lasing per se.
AARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!

Well. It is definitely NOT a TEM00 beam.

<grasping at straws> Is the front mirror clean?

If the DIY controller doesn't show a change, I can loan you a stock one that will give you the readouts.

I might take you up on it...I'll let it sit for now until I get Rob's controller. If no...I may borrow the stock one. If that doesn't work than you have yourself a sale on another Tube

Got my controller that Rob made today, plugged it in and got the same effect as from the one I put together.
The interlock seems to work fine, the tube takes around 25sec to "power up", and then all I get is the same blue light but not lasing.
Here is a pic of my controller and the one Rob made. They both seem to have the correct wiring from what I read. The one on the Right is the one Rob made.

Robs controller was a bit different from the one discussed in this thread, but both are having the same effect.

So I guess I will end this saga, unless someone has any last ideas of whats going on with this tube.

Thanks again to Rob for making and sending the controller, and to everyone else for all their input!

Welp ya'll here it is!!

My new replacement came today in the mail from Dave:beer:

It is a:
JDSU 2214 - 40ML(that's MULTI-LINE!)
Also I picked up a:
JDSU Remote Interface(this is nice just to have all the information on whats happening)

Also packed nicely in the bottom of the box I found a thick block diffraction grating optics.....Very nice of you Dave, just that little extra so that I was all up and ready to Play right out of the box!:beer:

So here are some pics of the set-up, there are some 'okay' beam shots, I was also 'kind-of' able to pick up the multi-line points. I'll try to get some better picks up when I get it all set up a bit better.

Very sweet!

If you put it into "current mode" you will more than double the output

I certainly do NOT recommend running it full out often, or for long, but it is nice to see

Running less than 1/2 power as it does in "light mode" (as a hobbyist) will make it outlast you

A guy on PL agreed to repair it for free, but in the end he had not enough free time to do it in less than a month, so he offered his tube in exchange. It's on its way and is similar to the one I had. It should be here in like 2 weeks?

I didn't want to start another thread for this so I thought I would just put it in my old Argon Thread.

I just started my maintenance run. I have neglected to do it now for two months...partial lazy and partial other projects in the way.
I got it all set up...put my diffraction gratting in front....(I like to see the multiple lines!) and fired it up.
Right away I saw there were only TWO LINES!! Scared the hell out of me...even in idle there should be at least 3-4 lines(even if they are dim).
After a few minutes the lines re-appeared. I would imagine that the lose of the other lines may have come from sitting around for a bit to long.

Lesson from this story is ALWAYS run your maintenance burn! Each month at least once a month or you may loose your nice argon from non-use!

I have 3 large argons and never even fired them up. I just can't provide the power yet...

You may still be able to get them fired up by exciting the tube externally(I think...)But I would think the longer they sit the harder they will be to get lit.

I'd love to have one of the larger ones, don't have 220V 3phase though, and quite frankly, nowhere to put it.
If you do get one or all fired up at some point, i'd love to see some action shots!!

Does anyone know the lasing threshold of a Lexel 85, Spectra Physics Stabilite 2016 and 2017? I know the lexel has a linear power supply and is wired for 1 phase, so if the threshold is below 16A I can run it without blowing the fuses. Maybe not at full power, but at least it would run. The SP's may be single phase too, I'd have to open them up.
