My first laser was a HeNe from Meredith back in the early 90s. I will always miss that laser,(stolen in a break in). Now I have a nice little HeNe.
It's a Melles Griot P-50 and I have the bug again.



This is how I got it.



This is with the top removed.



And one of it running.
Puts out 1mw at 632.8nm

So I have the gas bug again and I'm already looking for my next one.

Awesome. I have this same setup as my last remaining HeNe. I really want to 3D print a "host" of sorts to put it in when I get the time.

Cool I had that exact tube a wile back same PSU and plastic sleeve thing too. Not sure what they come out of.

Yes! More gas! :) I used to have one of those! A cute little LHR-006 it looks like. I actually have the exact same tube in orange and green as well-the smallest green hene ever made! :tinfoil:

Those Siemens tubes are nice. I have a 14" melles griot about that size if you want one. PM with an offer if you'd like. Last time I checked it was doing almost 9mW

Awesome little HeNe! I eventually want to get something like this to incorporate into some sort of sci-fi/lab type of prop. :yh:

After seeing this thread I wanted to check out what all the fuss is about, so I picked up this exact setup for 55$ on eBay. Haven't had any experience with gas lasers but damn that tube is pretty cool. Would consider getting more of them, thanks Antharak for the link!

There's a bunch of cheap ones on eBay right now...for the people that have a little bit more pocket money I actually have some small ones floating around I could sell.

Diachi, I got the laser from a seller named "tcle2745" on eBay. 100% positive feedback though shipping to Canada is a bit steep I had to pay $30CAD, though I have to say he gave me the laser 10$ less than what he listed it for. I used the "best offer" feature. :yh:

He's got a tube for sale but no power supply, though I got the listing with the whole setup.

Great, now I'm really wanting one! Only if I had some extra cash right now, but getting prepped for the upcoming eclipse is making sure that I'm broke. :cryyy:

ultimatekaiser, if you did get some ideas on a "cheap" setup, keep me in mind!

I haven't screwed around with the optics yet, only taken off the top part to expose the tube. You can see the 1mW output on the black plastic. It's a pretty fun toy :p

ultimatekaiser, if you don't mind listing what you'd offer for sale, and maybe some pictures? I also might be interested if the price is right.

I have become acquainted with this guy a bit, he's usually a pretty swell guy based on the conversations we've had. He frequently gets interesting stuff coming through.

I have lots of things, gas and solid state ranging from small stuff to lab stuff you [probably] couldn't afford :) If you just want a little tube like this, maybe with a power supply, probably be 50-100 bucks depending on what I have/what you need. :)
