standard tap water will work, but if possible I would use distilled water to minimize mineral deposits. Standard safety glasses are excellent for blocking the beam. I tested a pair and they took 12 seconds to fail while in front of a 60W unfocused beam.

Thanks for the help when i get the tube running and that i will put some pictures on here will 40 watt tube burn through a half inch piece off wood un focused if it does i presume it will be slow

er... if it does at all, it'll take 10-20 minutes. Focused, it should take less than a second.

Ok I have been looking on the inter net for the operating voltage of the tube and i found 3 sites and 2 of them were differnt voltages what si the operating voltage for a 40 watt co2 tube.

A quick ebay search tells me 15Kv at 18ma. The current is linearly proportional to output on my (60W) tube, but the voltage looks like a bell curve from off to full: peaking at 23kV and either end being ~16kV.

I payed around 1200 for for all parts: tube, replacement tube, PSU, focussing lens, radiator, pump, PVC tubing, electrical components and various structural components.

You MUST OPT FOR INSURANCE. I've had 4 out of 5 tubes sent to me broken in the mail.
