So I recently aquired a 612nm HeNe from our very own Dave here at LPF. I'm more than excited to finally add this wavelength to my collection to bridge the yellow and red gap (plan to further bridge the gap within the next month, more on that later in April.) Now that I have use of an actual computer, I decided that it'd be a prime opportunity to post some pictures of the this new beauty. Without any more stalling, THE PICS! Refer to post #17 for pictures of this HeNe operating more efficiently under a diffraction grating and a better PSU, causing 2 extra lines to come through, 594, and 604. That's right, beamshots of a multiline HeNe! ;)

It doesn't really show the "richness" of the color,
but it does a great job of showing how the color "fits" in the "rainbow"

It's a multiline 594/604. Once it comes in (in a couple more payments) I'll be posting pics of the full line of visible spectrum HeNes. Though Aryntha still has me beat with his tunable.

I still need a 612nm to complete my HeNe rainbow and sadly I doubt I'll ever have one.

Wow 612nm ! That is true orange color. I wish they have that in handheld package. :D

So after some talking to Sam about this current laser, he mentioned that the PSU I was using was giving it too much, so I swapped for another one, got her lasing, and saw something I thought I'd never see. After warm up, I decided to place a diffraction grating in front of it for kicks. What I saw made me jump for joy. 3 circular dots sitting idly on my dorm wall. 594, 604, and 612. I am now an owner of the 604nm wavelength. Pics will be up tonight!

I have never felt so much excitement for a laser than I am feeling right now. I never thought I'd see or own either 612 or 604, and here I am with a laser producing both. Just became my favorite item in the collection.

From Sam, I was perusing his classifieds section and he has a 594 putting out 4.75mw and about 8% 604. I put a down payment on it for testing because he said with some work he might be able to get all the lines from 594-633 to lase, unfortunately he was not able to through the front mirror. So in order for that to work he'd have to open the laser up try the back mirror. He said that since its a like new, nearly 5mW yellow unit, that it'd be best to just enjoy what I got. So I'm going that route. Either way I'll get 604 and 594, and I already have 612 and 633, (and 544, and one 604 already) so I'm set.
