Finally got my acrylic in the mail all the way from Aus from Things.

Wouldn't be complete without my name etched into the top!

Gluing together the base and the three legs.

Its really hard to take pictures of clear objects. Starting to work upwards.

Skeleton complete. Minus the tube of course.

Bam!

The tube is currently held to the skeleton by clear tape. The rubber conduit bracket pictured was too small to fit around the tube and bolt to the skeleton but you get the picture. Will have to head back to the store and get the next size up but I'm too impatient and had to have it running now!

Output end of the tube illuminates the etched in name. Still to bright in the room for a good picture and I had to center it with my hand but its still not 100% complete. With the conduit brackets I will be able to adjust and center the tube. At least I hope anyway.

Hope you like it!

Thanks again Things!

Neato! Did you design the acrylic cuts yourself?

Yup. Sent Things some crapy hand drawn images and he got them computerized and cut for me.

Very nicely done. I tried something like that, but wasn't quite as talented with the acrylic.

Looking good, Speedy!

@ Hakzaw - to be fair, my PSU sits down on the side of my desk hidden by the credenza. Only the cable goes up by the laser ;)
Mine was (maybe?) the first.
Others have done a much more aesthetic job on their mounts

Peace,
dave

aha I wondered where you put yours. Show us a pic of it when you can- sadly my tubes are not completely open to see there is a round piece of something (paper maybe) that covers a good part on the 'innards' .

Hmmm.....ideas :D I have a small tube I could make into a miniature lamp. Hmm. Maybe I will look for one with more of the plasma showing though. Definitely love this! +2

Finished her up today!

Added some left over acrylic rods I had from my SSTC build to reinforce the skeleton.

Spent about 45 minutes in Lowes trying to find the right bracket with no luck whatsoever. So I picked up some brass and made my own. The rubber is that stuff they tie your arm off with when you give blood.

It came out a lot better than I expected!

Should I pick up a line generating lens and try to expand it to illuminate this a little better? Still looks good in the dark but could be better with a line.

Aint nobody can lamp like me :)
