Very neat! I am wanting to do the same, just haven't gotten around to it. Wasn't sure why to talk to to get a rig for the tube.

Looks pretty sick with those tube supports :D

Another thing you could try to get the name to light a bit better is putting something reflective on the top surface of the acrylic to bounce the light back down into the acrylic. Being laser cut, the edges are very good at passing light :)

You might look at windrestrictor.com for ideas. They do something similar for cars.

I've got one on my Sky, it lights up very well and looks incredible

Added a piece of tinfoil to the top reflective side down.

Seems good :D Could probably even it out a bit more by putting some foil either side of the beam entering from the bottom too, basically turn the acrylic into a fiber optic and have the beam bounce around it a few times before escaping.

Very neat device :D

Maybe you could try a piece of diffraction grating cut to a strip and place it under the plexi where the beam hits it first.

^^ that would work I bet- I may have a line generator lens around on the front of a module that no longer works- i will send it if I can find it- AixiZ sells them same size as any aixiz module lens,

+3 for the speedy--

If I did a diffraction grating I would one the fan one and not the star field one.

Only issue is the exposed high voltage that I may or may not have grabed a hold of trying to line the beam up. Good thing im not an electrician.

I'd like to get one of these, but with an HR meant for that wavelength on each end of the sign, and the tube parallel to it, with a right angle mirror on each end. So I have two external cavities visible. I'll do it with a green for visibility :) I might even do something unheard of, and make a full cycle with the external cavity, passing it right back through it's original cavity. SCIENCE!

I need one of these.

Things, you'll have a PM in the morning. I'm off to bed.

EDIT: Fiddy, why is there a pack of dynamite on your desk?!!?

I don't want laser dots on my ceiling though. At least that's how I feel now. That's why I went for the tin foil and the reflection.

Bloom: Would be sweet to have the external cavity set up on a desk lamp. You really need to PCS here!

Edit: How the hell do you ship a bomb clock? lol

Edit number 2: Added the star grating. Not much different in the visibility of "Speedy"

Side not, this is probably the most bad ass nightstand that ever was. Yes I sleep next to lasers ready to go every night. (Kimber Ultra Crimson Carry II-Lazerer Polished Rifle 688mW-wannaburnstuff baby shower gift? 127mW-MS-V4 95mW-Ti B 170mW-Crelant 7G5CS)
