Now what do we have here? ;)

3x Lasos 7786P 543.5nm (0.5-1.5mW)
3x MG-925 632.8nm 17mW
4x Uniphase 1145P 632.8nm 21mW

I can only test the greens currently. PSU for the 925/1145P's on its way.

Teaser pic of box at the end of this post ;) Will update as I get deeper into the wonders that lie within.

Soda can for size reference. Lot's of gas here!

Two bundles here. One with most of the tubes, and another with what looks like one or two (from the outside) making a lot of rattling. So those are the dead tubes they mentioned. No worries. Any one of these in decent working order pays for the lot.

So far, all the greens are bad, and one of the 925's sounds like one of those Australian tubes filled with tiny beads that rustles when you turn it one way or the other.

It's terrible.

Checking the other pack.

Every single one of these tubes has some rattle, either major, or tiny.

Awesome. 10 dead tubes, and wrongly advertised.

Were they advertised as working?

Oh well, I was jealous for a brief moment in time :)

Advertised as "although some have rattling glass". Paraphrased.

Was misleading.

These aren't your regular 1145P's. They're 1145AP's. Not sure what the difference is. Although one of them is rubber pasted into a second sheath. Making it very heavy, and very wide.

Beam Diameter on the AP is .96 and only 20mw
It is only .7 on the 1145p and rated at 21mw

Those were the only differences I could find.

I see, well still nice :)

Found a couple that may be good. Rattling wasn't from glass, and the ballast diodes are intact.

Opened the back of one of the 1145AP's and drilled through the plastic so that I can get a dual output to play with, if it works. I can't just leave it open as the contact for power is the cap itself touching the tube wall. So I made due :)

I'll do the same with the other possibles. Dual ends equals double the fun with optics :)

EDIT: After opening up both endcaps on all of the 1145P's, looks like they will all, but perhaps one, lase. Terrific!

So that's FIVE possible 15-20mW tubes!

Two of the 1145P's had coverings over the HR, so I won't be able to dual output them. Not going to try prying it off and perhaps damaging the mirrors/tubes.

Two of the 1145P's had mirror access on both mirrors, so I am drilling into the backs of both to allow for dual output. I will consider rigging it in such a way that I won't need to endcaps for electrical contact, that way it will make aligning to external mirrors easier. It's hard to align to a mirror you cannot see... Trust me ....

Since all the other tubes are screwed, I don't mind damaging them further to pry them open. If anything, I will attempt to harvest the mirrors. There's 6 possibly good 543.5nm mirrors here to play with! *evil laugh*

Sorry 'bout your luck...at least you got a few (hopefully!) good tubes!

PSU comes in tomorrow. There is a possibility that the 1145's have dislodged bores on the anode end. I am hoping for, a minimum, of the 1145's with dual mirrors to be in working order. I can be happy with that, as long as they do >15mW, and I can play with both mirrors, I will be content.

Pulled the tube out of one of the MG-925's that were broken. The rattling wasn't glass, but instead a chunk of the bore. Still a bad tube, but I at least have a neat 24" display piece :)

Only working unit :p

Doing some realignment of the OC :)

Using a bounce mirror so I can see my work, and a grating to a) diffuse the light making subtle changes more obvious, and b) to see if other lines come in :)

OC end is a bit of a pain in this one. Even adjustments far beyond alignment, have the metal resetting past alignment back to poor alignment again. It's far too rigid that it needs to be...

How much did the brick for that set you back? I might end up making my own HeNe psu from scratch depending on your answer =P
