G'day,
Inspired by Jayrob, i have made a HeNe Lamp.
First i had to find a HeNe tube that wasn't too expensive and had a lot of uncovered glass so plasma could light up a work area or mood light.
I found this 10" tube from Meredith Instruments:
Great so i looked for a 12V power supply for it, i ended going with one from Sams Lasers Classifieds which looks very similar to this one but is 3.7 - 4mA:
Now here's my circuit diagram:
Bought a little black plastic box, LED's, resistors, 2.5mm panel mount jack and a missile toggle switch from Jaycar.
Fired the tube up the first time:
I couldn't find some acrylic C-channel so i sent this paint constructed diagram to a plastics mob:
I received the C-channel today and finished the Lamp off!
Really love the glow it gives off, great for the bedroom, might spruce it up with a diffraction grating on top of the exit aperture!
