XY DIY Ghetto scanner- learn the absolute basics of laser scanning.

this site is a good one to subscribe to(newslatter)- however the projects shown, if you are not a paying sub. are what I Call 'teasers' as for the TOTAL step by step you need to sign up for a paying sub(Pro). However if you are an electronics Wiz most can be done with just the free sub.
It would be cool if one of our Vets would make a detailed tut on this-- here are links to Instructables and to eekbay listings for the boards.

while you are there look on the right side for related projects.
I THINK if you join up and your project is popular you MAY get payback for the project that you give them to put up(IDK for sure)Great Pics are a definate plus. Do them like DTR does- the 'dummies version' is always better that assuming that some steps can be left out.
on eekBay

And..
so depending what you have on-hand and how resourceful you are at getting stuff free or close to free. Here is a cool cheap laser 'toy' you can make and learn at the same time.
Many thrift shop have misc. electronics- I stop by many on a regular basis- being nice to the peeps that work or volunteer at them
helps a lot. I leave a printed list with them as a BOLO. with my contact info- I do the same at PC repair and electronics shops- you never know what they may be giving away- everything from Poliroid one-steps(nice small dc motor and FS mirror inside- may be a better choice for this XY project IMO)) to RPTVs huge lenses and even larger FS mirrors and more.
with digital everything replaceing older tech. stuff like tv projectors- laser disc players- are just taking up space and very unlikely to ever sell. Even the dumpsters at electronics shops can yield good finds- and THIS is another of 'Hak's find of the Day"
