actually I'd be cautious in getting a samsung. the 11 samsungs I tore apart not too long ago all had that odd rectangular diodes in them.

I guess others will follow and release 22x drives too... but i think they could be pretty expensive for a while, perhaps not worth it for the extra 10% of laser power compared to cheap common 20x drives.

Dude, I've posted this a lot of times, you got RIPPED off, your diode is from a 20x DVD BURNER, NOT 22x. Check this thread: ;)

Yeah since Pioneer doesn't sell a 22x, I don't see how it could be. One of them has a label that says something like 20x20, but not sure how anyone could confuse that with 22x.....

if you remember him saying they were never sold anywhere. He had access to the diodes and nothing more. Believe what you want.

Which came first, the chicken or the egg? I have the same 22x, remember they have to have the technology to create a 22x diode before they can start making the drives. Thats why your not going to find this pioneer in a driver yet. Looks like samsung beat pioneer to the punch. but the pioneers we are using right now have not yet hit the dvd market and are currently $59 a pop, but as you can see the technology is moving forward as samsung has already developed and implemented a 22x. Im willing to bet no one will be selling these pioneer 22x drives when they come out for $59. ;)

Ok Mr. then measure the output with a laser power meter and PROVE this diode is outputting the 350mW the seller claims and that you didn't get RIPPED off. ;) If you can prove that, then I'll shut up :-X

Could someone who bought the 22x diodes take macro pictures of the Diode leads? If the leads are full length un-cut just like the Senkat Diodes, at lease we know it’s a brand new Diode NOT harvested from a DVD burner.

Ya I plan on it. still workin on the host, but ill throw in pics and power stats later. Ill be getting a power meter as my next purchase. BTW he claims there driven to run at 225mW but with proper cooling, 350 and beyond...
