Default WickedLasers Spyder III Interlock

I was wondering if any of the Spyder III owners knew how the interlock safety was designed. It is my understanding that the interlock is basically a headphone jack that has been shorted out and I wanted to verify if that was indeed the case.

And due to this fact you can no longer put the laser underwater. Wicked Laser should really change their chart when it claims that these lasers are water proof.

Technically speaking in terms of leaking into the battery department, it can easily be waterproof still. Just because there's a hole going into this locking mech. doesn't mean its fully sealed with external contacts. What it does mean, is even without a key in it, water may add a resistive connection.

They make waterproof keylocks...Like a button, its fully sealed on the bottom half with just 2 contacts that come out. Water can get to the mechanics of the button, but not into the host...

If you seal around the black, it would be water proof as the contacts are usually sealed in. So, I say there's a chance it CAN be water proof. As long as they have no holes where water can flow into the lock, and to a hole to the battery/drivers. As long as thers no flow besides into the lock chamber, its good.

Like example. Empty bottle going into water. Drill 2 holes on top for 2 wires / contacts. Seal around wire. No water gets in, and you can allow flow. Only issue is the water maybe able to keep the flow even without the key. Especially salt water, with resistance

even normal water would allow flow due to all the additives, but all I know is that I'm not putting it in water, not taking chance. If it were 100% water proof I still wouldn't put it in water, it can get the lens all smudgy and is difficult to clean
