What driver you use is largely dependant upon which host you planning to use. If you are planning on a single cell type then the Micro Flex drive would be the correct way to go. If you are planning on a host that holds more then 1 battery then the Micro-Drive may be the better option. They are both good drivers.

this is the DDL driver (Daedal). a forum member is the one greatly responsible for this driver. it uses a lm317 as a voltage regulator and requires 3V above what the laser diode uses. this driver can be built using radioshack parts. easy to build just connect the dots (terminals / wires) as in the schematic.

here is a good thread...read it.

Thanks WonHungLo!

When making a correct adjustment of the current in the diode, this circuit can be used to any red diode and blueray?

I haven't had much luck with the DDL driver, I succeeded in a couple but for some odd reason couldn't get it EXACTLY the way I want. *

So, it depends on your host. *Do you want small, with minimal battery space? *Use flex drive, it has a booster circuit that can take 3.7V up to around 9V IIRC (somebody jump in if I'm wrong). *SO, you don't need as much power, but the battery gets drained pretty quickly that way. *I personally don't like these builds because I guess I just have the "flex drive" bad luck bug, every one I've owned has failed the longetivity test by killing my LD, even one driver went bad. * (and I've had 3)

I prefer the rkcstr driver, it has a regulator as well, but it doesn't boost the voltage so you need a larger host for additional batteries. *This is the way I go because I believe that every portable electronic device is only as good as the battery power behind it. *They last A LOT longer on a single charge, and there is no amplifier sort to speak boosting the current to the LD. *The biggest con is that it requires more batteries (which is a pro in my book) and you have to use larger hosts so it won't be as portable. *

I currently use the DDL and micro rkcstr driver. Both are excellent, in my opinion.

I got high values with both.

I also have a DX module, but only use for experiments using regulated power supply with big heatsink.

The DLL driver I am trying reduce size of pcb without using SMD components. :'(

Its a module that I bought at DealExtreme.
An extra function that he is the TTL. However, its size is big to make it portable. :P

If its a phr803T the diode will blow.

You will need a 4x or a 6x at around 140-160ma.
