maybe somebody post it already, but i just discovered how to make normal matches to superfast burning matches ;D

STEP 1- put matches into hot water for about 10 - 15 sec
STEP 2- let them dry or help them dry
STEP 3- burn them

it took my alpha 125mW about 30 sec to burn a brown colour match but after making it wet and dry they burn almost immediately :)

i will make a video tomorrow

What type of matches did you use? Strike anywhere or book/paper matches? This could make a difference because of the different chemical compositions.

Re: tutorial How Make PERFECT MATCHES for BURNING

Off topic but I've noticed several people saying they can't get red matches to ignite while others with the same laser are able to light them easily without using a sharpie.. I think I know why. It took my red laser a really long time to ignite Diamond brand matches and sometimes it wouldnt light them at all.. So I picked up a different brand (Penley, get them at Dollar General) and it lights them instantly! Darker color of red I guess?

Re: tutorial How Make PERFECT MATCHES for BURNING

Yeah, I can't light red matches either with my laser running at 200mA and outputting 100mW, but if I turn up the current to 300mA it outputs 170mW and lights them instantly. This got me a little confused since Gazoo once mentioned he was able to light red matches with a SenKat diode running at 160mA which would've been a little less than 100mW. I guess it has to do with the brand of matches.
