man they are massive pics!and my first one is very blurry, it looked alright on the camera though. so far i have measured temps down to -7.8 running at 12V @ 4A, so when i take this thing to my school tommorow and hook it up to one of their 20A, i will see what this thing can do! i'm prolly going to use a datalogger to get the temp, so they are very accurate(since they are like $800 each ;D the water starts to freeze as soon as it hits the peltiers surface, and sometimes the syringe i use to put the water on freezes to the surface before i move it!! i only just used alot of electrical tape to hold the thing to a pretty big heatsink, and there is a little computer fan cooling the heatsink. i'll see what happens tommorow! ;D

That is one powerful peltier. Make sure when you use it with your laser to avoid condensation. A wet diode is not a happy diode.. ;D It will be interesting to see the results of your 20 amp test. I don't think there is a chance my poor little peltier can compete with yours

can your pelt freeze water gazoo? i have gone through about 6 TEC's, and the reason for that is that i have been using thermal tape, but i have found that the tape doesn't transfer the heat very well, so i just stick the peltier straight onto the heatsink, without any thermal stuff. but sometimes the TEC's get chipped, and it doesn't get very cold anymore, so i have to get them off the heatsink, which often results in disaster for the TEC's. but since they only cost me $12 AU, it doesn't really matter ;D

Mine can freeze water easily. If you want the best solution for mounting the peltier to the heatsink, get some arctic silver thermal adhesive. If your peltier goes bad after it is mounted, you might be able to remove it with a chisel.. ;D
Another idea is to use regular heatsink compound, it would be much better than nothing

Do you have the hot side heatsinked? I am not sure how much current your peltier will draw with one battery. Try that and measure the current. It doesn't take much juice at all to get the peltier to be just a bit cooler than room temp., even with the module mounted to it.

All he told me is if he has any left they will be listed by next week.that's a great pic!!! those pelts are tiny!!! oh i took it and showed my science teacher, and he was imppresed with it! i hooked it up to the 20A power supply, and i froze a temperature sensor on there with water, and i got -15C!!! the temperature probe culdn't measure below -20 so i can't measure temps lower than that! this pelt is only rated at 12V @ 4A, so it's 33 watts. there is some availiable that are rated at 15V @ 8A, so maybe i will try one of them one day?

You might as well go all the way and get a 350 watt, 15 volt 30 amp peltier... ;D

Yeah, unfortunately this is where the expense is. A 30 amp power supply is very expensive. An alternative would be a hefty deep cycle battery like those used in RV's. But they can get pretty expensive too and would not give the full 15 volts.
