Switching from watch batteries to AAA

Simple question.

I have a simple laser pointer that i picked up at a pet store. 5mw 650+-10 class 111a

It runs off of 2 energizer 357/303 watch batteries with 165 mAH 1.55v. I want to switch over to AAAs so that i don't have to keep buying watch batteries.

Durecell's AAAs are rated at 1.5 volts. I was just wanted to know if I should worry about energy spikes or if 2 AAA can replace 2 of these watch batteries.

I even have a old burnt out laser pointer that runs off AAAs that i could use the casing from. Just seem to have different diodes.

i dont think you gotta worry too much about those.. just my experience but i had an old pointer that i gutted and just ran the thing straight off a 9v... just dont try that with an expensive laser

i run my old 5mw laser off of 2 of those big button watch bats (6v) and it runs much brighter just now i have a duty cycle for a 5mw laser lol but its able to pop through a really inflated ballon with a lense in about 2mins (at 2cm)
