I got tired of my Shinp projo a while back. It was a good bright green unit with about 150 mW output. I wanted Blue.
I purchased a heatsink housing on ebay (Techhood 260898973785) for $19.99 & free shipping. The heatsink is almost a driect replacement for the green housing.

I used an old, still functional A130 diode and built a driver assembly around the DrLava P3 driver board. Above is a picture of the Blue assembly installed and the green assembly removed.

This closer pix shows the DC supply for the P3 driver. This driver works well because you can set a bias current just below threshold. I use the analog input to control brightness on the diode from the original TTL controler.

The rear panel is now a bit crowded because of the switches I added plus the power control pot. Power can be controled from threshold up to 650 mW which is almost too much for the PS transformer.
The Shinp uses servos and has limited number of patterns but is sure can be bright now.

What current do you have it set at and what is the supply voltage? You might need a bigger heat sink on the flexmod.

The power supply starts with 7 VAC followed by a full wave bridge with Pi-net filter. The transformer is rated 7 VAC @ 5VA. How's that for a limit? I have the max power set for 1 Amp and at that, the fan slows indicating a limit. The fan cools the heatsink and blows on the P3 heatsink. Heat isn't a problem here.

What is the best way to limit the throw on a servo? These have 5 wires -- a pair plus a set of 3 going into the "motor".

Merry Christmas to all.
