Er, please someone who has done this-

Is the white wire that's on the circuit board the positive or negative connection?

White?

I just looked at mine and didn't see a white wire :-?

A simple way to check is to use an LED with known polarity. The one that came with the Dorcy itself should be fine.

It might be yellow. When you take out the circuit board, remove the 2 plastic side covers and you will see it

it depends on the lasers output! a 5mw green may have a 200mw pump diode depending on the quality! although it is IR(invisible)

Hey anyone know where to find a Dorcy mini, or junior? I can't seem to locate one anywhere. Not target, walmart, google, or even the dorcy website? Does this particular model go by some secret alias I should know of? Please help.

Thanks

The model isn't actualy called Dorcy 'mini' or 'jnr'. It's just a small Dorcy 1 Watt Luxeon LED. Model number is 41-4262. I've also provided the link to the product on the Dorcy website below.
http://www.dorcy.com/products.aspx?p=414262

Just remember, it's the one that runs off a CR123 battery. Hope that helps

What's the difference in power consumption between a redie and a greenie? Could ya just pop out the red and pop in a green?

Default Re: Red DIY DVD laser burner.

Red lasers use a direct diode output as the lasing medium while green uses a Diode Pumped Solid State laser (DPSS) because there is no green laser currently available for normal consumer use.

With that said... to get 100mW of red, you would have to supply enough power to produce that much light... say 300mA.
As about the green... to get 100mW of it then you have supply enough IR to get most of it used up by the crystals to produce green light. In this case you would need to supply about 1Watt (1000mW) of IR to then get 100mW of green. To get 1W of IR you would need about 1.5-2A (1500-2000mA) of power.

Simple answer: No ;D

Thank you!

Have any other Dorcy units been found that have the needed circuitry?
