Pot Modding?

I know this topic has been brought up a lot, but the most recent thread i found for this was outdated by 3 years.

Anyway, i bought a Dealextreme True 5mw green laser pointer *pen style* and from what i have heard these can be pot modded. I took a look at the thread made back in 2009 where someone pot modded them and they all turned out great. I want to know if anyone has pot modded any lasers lately before i possibly break my laser.

Thanks.

Don't try to pot mod that laser!!!

The lasers being sold now are not the same as they were years ago.

Now all the cheap lasers are set to the highest power possible, and then binned for efficiency. If you attempt to pot mod the new DX lasers you will most likely kill it.

I did this once, but it barely made a difference. And within 3 weeks the diode died. So I'd say not worth it :p

Grtz ;)

My advice to you would be never to pot mod ANY laser. It will most likely either result into an immediately killed laser, or a stronger laser that works for a few weeks and then dies. If you want a stronger laser, just buy one. You can get them fairly cheap at websites like dailyshop.com, but I dont recommend buying lasers from dealextreme. But, with a strong laser, never forget to wear safety glasses! One slip could result in instant blindness. Permanently.
