possible heatsink???

I was looking around lowes and came across these aluminum washers and I thought could you drill these out to a diameter that fit the aixiz module snugly and stick 10-12 of theses to gether with some artic silver as glue to make a DIY heatsink?

it would be much better to have a single large chunk of metal. only thing i would suggest stacking together if you want to cool something is tecs

Then what would make a good heatsink for the life of me i cant find a heatsink without bothering someone to handmake one. :'(

depending on the width of the washer a single one might work fine. depending how much amperage you are running through it. if you use an aixiz module that alone should be enough for cooling. it depends a lot on your intentions. its not that it wouldnt work, its just that its not the best way to go about it. custom heatsinks arent that hard to get. you could just order a piece of stock aluminum round bar already cut to the length and diameter you want and get someone to drill it or grab a hand drill. or you can get a longer piece and use a metal hand saw and cut them up yourself. aluminum is easy stuff to work with. you can use simple hand tools for that sort of thing. i would do it myself and sell them but i dont have the tools, and it would be a mess in my little apartment. i do intend on moving by spring though...

Ive had bad experiances with trying to drill out solid chunks of metel with a hand drill, nearly imposibble they just get stuck and grind and other bad stuff :'(

If you want a way to cool it just buy a tec and put it on any heatsink you get out of like an old dvd player or vcr or other things, they might have a heatsink, or you can search on ebay for ones with heatsink attached their not that hard to find.

I kinda like the idea somebody had of using a drill-stop. You can find them at the hardware store, like a really big thick washer, with a hex set-screw.
Just take the Aixiz module with you and find one that's nice and snug.

I wound up using a thick bronze metric flange bearing, but they're probably harder to find.

For my TEC project I just bought a surplus aluminum bar and spent half an hour cutting a cube off it with a jigsaw, then drilled it to fit an Aixiz.
