o-like 120~150mw adjustable?

I've got a jayrob kit with the o-like 120~150mw module. I notice while putting it together that there is a pot on the driver. Does this mean it's adjustable? I know I could pop the diode if i mess with it so I've left it alone thus far....but i feel the need to tinker. :)

STEP AWAY FROM THE POTENTIOMETER .... Seriously, the higher-powered modules like those are already tweaked to their absolute peak, you'll most likely either kill it dead or possibly lower the output drastically and not be able to get it back.

Sorry for the bad news - still, you've got 120mW plus, that's cool as hell in and of itself, right?

Oh, don't get me wrong...the thing is a beast (to me). I love it as it sits. was just curious. i knew if i messed with it i would probably end up fulshing 100bucks down the toilet so i've left it alone.

What if I got a 30mW or 50mW module, could I adjust the pot on those to take it up to the 150mW-type modules? Could someone tell me the resistance across the pot on their 120~150mW module (the default setting, that is)?

@ bearded_galaxy. you will never get a 300-400% increase from pot modding. read the pot modding FAQ's in the general section!!!!

Almost all IR diodes in the green O-like Modules are lasing with 300mW.
They only sort them out how efficient the crystals are:
Not very efficient -> 30mW
Average -> 50mW
Good ->100mW
Perfect -> +120mw

i have tweaked leadlights to over 4 times the original output but then again they are built with good crystals and turned down big time I have a glp 105 doing 26 mw's pretty good but for how long ????????

Yeah, on a low 5mw you might be able to boost it % wise.

I have one of the same modules from Susie in a Kryton Groove and on one of those 150mw high power greens, IMO trying to pot mod is the quickest way to a $100 paperweight.

And IIRC the pot is locked in place (glue, something else maybe)

On a 5 mW is possible it was tuned down way below capability just to make it <5 mW and sellable. You won't find this possible on any higher powered laser though.

So in a normal LD, the power needed to lase and the max power are probably within a relatively narrow range? So pot modding is far more likely to over power a diode, even if, say, it could run straight off of a AA Lithium battery? Is it possible to have a 20x DVD diode, capable of 400+mW, lase at 40mA of current?

Can't understand, repeat please? :thinking:
