Default New Red Laser Burner

Here is my first red laser burner using ddl's driver circuit, a stonetek diode, some rechargable CR123's, and a flashlight I found while waiting in line at Lowe's. I've attached a video clip of the laser in action as well as some pictures. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dA1yQWhF3k

Good job! You can't post links until you have over 10 posts (to prevent spammers from spamming).

good work! I don't think I've seen this particular flashlight used before!

The batteries actually have a small hole on each side of the positive tab so I just threaded the wire through like a needle and twisted it tight.

OH I know what little holes you are talking about! I wouldn't have thought of that. Just one more question, how are you keeping pressure applied to the batteries to keep a connection? It seems that the way you have it the batts would just kinda rattle around. Or is there a place where the circuit board gets stopped by something, applying the required pressure?

My somewhat lo-tech solution is to use a small plastic wedge between the battery and the housing, I just push the batteries as far as they will go and insert the wedge(the plastic pocket clip of a pen) next to the battery.

Nice work, one tip though, take out that plastic lens that came with the flashlight, it is taking away about 10mw, probably more.

Can anybody explain why that would happen? I can't take out the lens because it's holding the laser housing but I will keep it in mind for hte next one.

Do you mean the silver cone thing, or the transparent plastic circle that's in front of the flashlight?

I already took out the clear plastic lens, I needed to be able to access the focus ring of the laser. The silver cone thing(reflector) is what is holding the laser housing. I suppose i confused the term lens and reflector, it should work fine, I think.

Yup it should be working fine, I guess woo thought you still had the clear plastic lens placed in the front of the flashlight.
