So I want a laser for airsoft, but also one that I can use just as a handheld. I was wondering what kind of laser I could buy that I could mod to make it more powerful, and that it might have burning capabilities(not for airsoft). I would like it to have a mount.
Is there any way I could mod that to make it more powerful? I dont really care if its red or green.

Thanks for all the help, and sorry for the noobish questions.

the best laser for an airsoft is a RPL 425 cause if you miss the person your aiming at they will still fall down from blindness

You're looking for a collection of features that may not be available in a single laser. If you're looking for a pointer that you could use as a gun sight, you may want to consider buying an ordinary pointer which you could make a mount for.

^^^^And a real douche bag move. Is there a laser that I can buy on DX that will ship to the US, and I can mod to my needs?

Thanks for the help.

It seems you're looking for a laser that you can tune up to burn stuff, and be able to tune it down for a relatively eye-safe airsoft aimer.

This laser simply does not exist.

DealExtreme has a couple of laser sights you can use for airsoft. $47 for a green one with mounts, or a $15 for a red one with cheap mounts.

Ok thank you for your help. One think that I want is to have a visible beam. If I bought one of those lasers, what would I be able to do to make the beam visible in semi lit conditions, outside like right before the sun sets?

Thanks

your best bet would be green 532nm wavelength because that is what our eyes our most sensitive too and hence we can see the beam better :)

I'm just wondering about how useful a visible beam would be in a simulated battlefield environment.

I'm sure you'll be using the sight for some covert maneuvers, in which case anyone within visual range can easily trace a visible beam back to your exact location, effectively blowing any cover you may have.

If, on the other hand, you want to use a pointer for troop signalling (where visibility is a plus) it would be a lot better to have the freedom of a device not attached to your weapon.

My solution would be to get a cheap red sight for your weapon (one you're not afraid of losing from getting banged around) and a more powerful green hand-held pointer for troop coordination that you can keep in a pocket. (pointers marketed for astronomy use would work well)

That way, you get more flexibility from your lasers and still won't break the bank.

As suggested above, check dealextreme.com, that would be your least expensive option.

Well maybe people on an airsoft forum wouldnt specialize in lasers! Do you see me asking about airsoft weapons here? No. Thank you lazo for the help. I think Im gonna buy a 5Mw green pen from DX.

Thanks

Get a weak IR laser and use night vision goggles :D That way you can aim at the enemy but they won't be able to see the beam ;)

You COULD get a low powered laser from one of the private builders on the forum, buy the mounts from DX, & increase the power by using one of the new lenses by LARRY DFW or Jayrob

Ultrafire makes a pretty decent green laser sight with mounts, pressure switch, etc but stay away from most of the generic-branded Chinese sights out there, I used to buy and sell a few of them and most are of marginal quality at best ... The Ultrafire 50mW will set you back around $80 or so (and at 50mW won't burn) but it's a solid sight, nice adjustments, relatively recoil-proof (unless you're running it on a magnum springer airgun, then you're on your own) and well sealed to keep out the moisture, etc.

Oh, and the set also includes a click-style tailcap, so you can remove the sight from the gun and utilize it as a handheld marker, btw...
