You could always pot mod the laser (but don't, you are almost guaranteed to end up with a broken laser), but other than that ... no.

I definetly would not trust either of those lasers. Look at some lasers from
o-like or rayfoss, both are reputable, safe sellers and their prices are great.

If you want to be able to see a bright beam, buy a green laser.

If you just want to burn at a very cheap price, New Style red laser 200mW /adjustable [OLNRL200] - $44.99 : O-Like, Quality Products, Great Prices is a great choice. (easily does all the burning tricks, burn matches, plastic, pop balloons)

Be sure to buy safety goggles!

Pot-modding is probably impossible to do with most laser pointers. It is simply turning the potentiometer on the driver to increase the current and hopefully the power.

Many lasers now don't even have a "pot". I highly advice you to NOT to attempt to pot mod your laser, I can almost guarantee it will not work. Personally, I would rather have a weak laser than a broken one.

On the very, very, tiny, miniscule chance it does work, it will barely increase the power, so little that you probably won't notice the difference.

Also, 100th post!

It's a shame, at that price you could have received a real 50 mW from o-like or Rayfoss.

yeah i see that, i mean had i known i deffinatly would have. Honestly i think im going to shop around more next time before i buy anything, but as for that red laser im probably going to pick it up, it looks pretty cool and as long as i can do all the little tricks. I would however like to have a green-burner, any ideas on where to get a cheap one? i like the red and i can deffinatly afford that now, but really want the green. by the way thanks for the help guys!

Any green laser over ~40 mW will be able to burn, like my 50 mW can pop balloons easily and barely put marks into dark plastic. If you want to be able to light matches and cut through plastic, you probably need at least 100 mW.

You could always go to the "reviews" section of these forums, go to the sticky at the top of the list. This contains almost all the reviews in LPF and you can browse through and pick a green laser. This way, you can increase the chances that you will receive a good quality laser because other members have bought and tested it before hand.

Also, if you are looking to burn stuff, be sure to buy a laser that has a "focusing" mechanism. Without the ability to focus the dot into a tiny pinpoint, it will be difficult to burn anything at all.

If you are going to be burning anything with lasers, goggles are NECESSARY!
Without proper safety glasses, burning anything with a high powered green laser will be impossible anyway. (All you will see is a giant green light, and nothing else. Very painful.)

Apparently Yotang sell NewWish lasers (IE the same as DealExtreme).

Issac --

Just a thought here. Instead of buying several cheap lasers which won't do what you want, save your money and buy ONE GOOD laser. This will give you time to do research here so you select a good seller.
