i decided to build my own pen laser, so i started with a piece of raw aluminum rod and machined it down to 14mm in diameter, then bored for the battery, and aixiz head. then machined out a tail cap for it. *there is a lip inside of the barrel for the battery stop. then started the assembly. i used a PHT-803T diode and a rckstr driver set @ 90mA (soldered the diode - and GND together to make the diode case groun). i used the switch from an old green laser driver () cut to size and all components removed. wired the BATT+ of the driver to one side of the switch and a small spring to the other side of the switch. then insulated the bottom of the switch PCB with a piece of foam hot-glued.
Next, i put some artic silver 5 to fill in the micro gaps for thermal transfer to the host. dropped in the switch to mark the location for the momentary switch to be drilled, and made the hole to size. after test fit comes final placement. i reused a brass apterature cap from another old green pen laser to finish it off, after a light sanding, cleaning with acetone, and some black rattle-can enamel paint. here are the pix...

thanks jay. i just wanted "one of my own". i don't plan on selling this one, but i will give out the schematics, and machine drawings if anyone wants it. i've sold plenty on the forum, and just trying to give a little back. not for profit, for the community. that's what a forum is.

Nice work, especially from scratch/bare aluminum. Looking at the final pictures after the black paint, you really can't tell in the pictures at all that is wasn't professionally built in a factory in Asia.

Any chance you'd be willing to sell these? I never finished building my Blu-ray laser (same 90mA board as you, PH-803T) and would be interested in a good housing, but unfortunately I don't have access to milling equipment.

how is Wes back on here?

DWells55 : i didn't have any intentions of selling these. just wanted to build one. i will think about it. usually it's more trouble and time than it's worth.
