IgorT uses those LM3410X to poewr his 445nm diodes at 1A (yes, 1A output).

You should not have trouble reaching 800mA ... but it depends on the coil. I used a coil which I found in WF-501B lamps which have boost converters for their emitters.

Hum... Do you know what inductor IgorT used?
I'm using Coilcraft 4,7microH, 3A. Should i use a bigger one (maybe around 10microH) or one with bigger Isat (maybe 6A or 7A)? Or maybe both?

I have no idea, I only briefly caught him on Skype though he does not feel excellent still, he just spend like 2 months in hospital, and I hope he gets well real fast :)

I didn't get the chance to ask him a lot of question, but I did find out that he is getting 1A out of his LM3410X.

Well, i do't know IgorT but i hope he gets better...

And good news, i found the problem of my unstable boost... HEAT!
I read on the datasheet that the LM3410 has a temperature protection that shuts down de IC when the junction temperature reachs 165ºC. I'm in the middle of the summer, with air temperature around 30ºC, so i thought that could be it. I blow some air with a old pc fan and now the output is stable. I reached 670mA output with 3x1,5V AA. I'm using the SOT23-5 that has the lower thermal performance, so i think with a eMSOP package i can reach more than 1A.

Another question:
I have 4 LEDs rated 2,8V @ 350mA, 2 connected in paralell, each paralell with 2 LEDs in series, so output should be 5,6V @ 700mA. I can put all the LEDs is series, so for the same power, output should be 11,2V @ 350mA.
Do you think that LM3410 is more efficient getting more Amps with less Volts or the opposite? Or just doesn't matter because is the same?
