The whole thing is Brass or Bronze? I really don't know the difference it's gold in color towards yellow if that helps, so far everything is machined and drilled out of a solid piece I had laying around here at home. The only problem is now I need to use a CR2 battery instead of CR123 oh well i'll live.

Very cool! Can you give descriptions of where you got those parts and the sizes?

Also, it looks like "paraphernalia". :D

can't really tell you where i got all the stuf because it's all junk I've collected over the years, hence my name The JUNK Monger :) There is nothing here that I bought. only discarded junk and the cool button i'm using I found on the ground going to work it was a button from a shirt.

Nice work, something unique & with character.

It was interesting to read about your troubles machining copper. Ah, copper, silver, gold - all related to each other, and all among the best conductors you'll find. These days copper has become something of a poor man's gold. There's been a epidemic of copper stealing now that it's going for around $4.00/pound. (one of many links on the subject.. http://www.kvbc.com/Global/story.asp?S=5109520)

Brass is a mixture of copper and zinc, bronze is copper and.. tin & others (heh, just checked the wiki)

I wish I had access to some real machining tools.. err, and knew how to use them. :)

I take it you're using a lavadrive as the regulator?

Anyway, it's nice to see creative use made from discarded stuff. We live in a throwaway society and so much stuff gets wasted, good to see someone making use of it.

EDIT.. I've got a few cases of unused CR2 batteries, so I'm thinking for my next bluray I'll make something around the CR2 - either a one or two cell job with a lavadrive. Li batteries are good for high drain devices, much better than alkaline batteries.

Thanks for the compliments we will see if it's nice work or not when it's done though i'm still a long way off.

Maybe I bit more than I can chew we will see.
