well not quite that far into my plan but i do like the flexmod V5 that Luke put into my eghemus black.

there is enough room for a bigger driver. mine puts out 650mWs and I see yellow spots for hours after short usage off a white wall and when I run it my red and green lasers they pretty much vanish in my photos.

I have a pin for popping balloons and a DX torch lighter for burning things so....
BUT...
Since the two SS auroras I have comng will be around 800 and 900mAs it would be logical to make this fatty a little over 1 A. I would like to sink the diode into a big chunk of copper and put a HS on the driver too.

I may end up selling two of the four to have fundage for my RGB projector project. All I have so far are the laser controller( Black Mamba clone) the 18K scanners(slow but OK for a first timer) , the dichros and a BSC adjusatable beam combiner set-up that I won as a doorprize atr SELEM(200$ value)and the lasers. 400+ mWs of red- 200+ mWs of green and as much 445nm that i will ever need.

going to SELEM really made me want white laser --bad. if you all ever get a chance to atttend a LEM--DO IT!!

I drove 17 hrs each way alone. and it was worth it!!

Copper will make the head very heavy. Aluminum works pretty good and is a little lighter. You could go for a copper module w/aluminum sink.

thanks J==what would you use to heat it--how about a butane torch lighter?

ps

say hi to Lucy from me--len in Tx

Will do...

You will need to add a decent amount of heat, so not too small of a torch.
Just dont break out the A/O ;)

A regular propane torch is good, just be gentle and dont rush it.
Let the heat build slow and controlled, you dont want to ruin the
finish, or melt it..lol

The dye in anodize is sealed in with heat, so it wont really bother it.

Remember too, aluminum wont turn red or glow, just turn into a blob.
Keep the torch moving and heat it evenly.

If the goal is to heat it up evenly and slowly couldn't you just throw it in the oven?

the head most definitely unscrews. it is the ONLY way that your going to get that pill out.

second, you will want to PULL the blue button cover out of that hole and push the button in or it won't clear teh hole and damage the driver.

Can I buy the green module parts?

thanks Ken--^^^ if I part with them you have first dibs--I may however need to keep the front threaded AL piece that has the IR filter glued on it, but you can still get the filter.

btw none of the scratches on the internals were done by me.
edit Ken

thanks for the tip on the removale of the blue button-it slipped off easily

now to just get the threads to let go. its very tight (like lock-tight red tight)

it has been my personal experience that strap wrenches are worthless. I have only had success with the wood in the vice trick. Drill a hole slightly smaller than the diameter of the host you want to hold and cut it in half, put the wood AROUND the host in the hole and place that in a vice. This will provide a TIGHT grip on the host and allow you to get a strap wrench or some other device to pull the head off. I've also seen folks have success with putting the host in a watertight bag, with no air and boiling the host to break it free. It personally has not been my experience that they use threadtight on the threads, but the host I've got is a much older one.

I would not use a torch, as it may scar/burn the host.
Use a hairdryer (or heat-gun).

I will try the least destructive options first--right now I have sprayed some stuff called PB Blaster that may loosen it up--so far tho no luck.

hair dryer is next

well that did not do it nor did a much hotter ceramic heater --too hot to touch--

but no progress

the pill will now move about 3/8 inch each way and revolves about 1/3 around

now it revolves nearly all the way around

I dunno-- its put together damn tight-- CNI did not expect to ever take it apart. next option is Ken wooden holder in a vice.

not given up--but this puppy s fighting me all the way--making the wood piece today ....after that i guess i will try a torch but do not want to cook th pill, my guess is that if returned to CNI they would just send out a new one and the old one would be tossed into the defective box...

I just found where my holesaws were hiding-- drilling out the right size later.

None of the other methods worked--waiting to try a butane torch as last resort. thnx for asking.
