Default minimag solitare

Has anyone managed to cram a highpower (at lest 100mw) laser into a minimag solitare? I'm going to try!

Hmmmmm - I do not think it will work....last I heard, the solitair does not have a boost circuit in it, (this is the single AAA model, right ?) and as such only puts out 1.5 volts

But it might fit a few LR44s like Kenom did with that host he had hoped to use with a BluRay... But it wouldn't last more than a few seconds.

It does not have a boost circuit, but I'm going to design my own! Instead of only running off of a normal 1.5 volts battery I"m going to probably use a rechargable lithium, such as this one:
http://www.batteryjunction.com/10440.html

Lets say you use a 200 mW laser, this thing should last at least an hour, right? I'm going to use a red laser diode, so that's around 2.9 volts, so I actually need to build a buck circuit, thus lengthening the life of the battery.

Oh, and can I modify a cheap cr123A charger to accept a Lithium AAA from the same comp to accept it (just make it so the AAA fits) would it work?

to the 123 charger yes it can be used to power the lithium

Try the AMC7135 as a regulator. Look at some of Gazoo's posts about it. A GREAT little IC.

that looks like a perfect solution! I think that if I buy them from DX I'm going to have to take it off of the board, there isn't enough room in the solitare.

Can I split an order with you? I'm looking at the 10 pack or 1400mA boards as they have 4 on each board. I'm wanting 16-20 of the 7135s.

sure, I'll split an order with you, but how would it work (I mean money transaction and such, I've never really used PP outside of ebay)?

EDIT SO I DON"T DOUBLE POST: The more I've been looking into this the more this seems possible.

By using these components:

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5900
http://www.batteryjunction.com/10440.html
AMC7135 chip (not board, the board is too big)
And, of course a LD

Everything should fit! I left a little bit of room for a protection circuit, does anybody know of a tiny IC that protect Lithium-ions that has extremeley little or no external components?
