hello, at the mo i dont have the time to post pictures but there is an interesting effect of a aser on a zip tie.
It works like this : my dx70 is focused to super fine dot on the shiny side of a black zip tie. the reflection of which is projected onto a screen (my door) and all sort of interesting patterns occur.
these shapes obviosly occur due to anomolies in the surface of the zip tie. the closer to the focal piont you get the larger the pattern is (more zoomed in) but when you are on the focal piont that is when the interesting thing happens. as the zip tie begins to melt the pattern goes mental oll the swirling lines jiggle and shake untill it melts so much there is no longer a pattern.
if this is magnification ofsorts it must be a over 10000 times zoo. the lines hat it produce are they just ridged anomolies r the chain of plastic itself? has any one else seen such patterns?

Have you been drinking again? j/k. Yeah, with some plastics, especailly thicker dark pastics, they kind of "self-heal" the hole the laser is trying to burn through them. So you get reflections that continue to swirl around as the hole is melting into a continously changing shape/depth. the plastic keeps melting and cooling, melting and cooling, etc.

cool. sometimes if you position it just right were it is not too hot you can get the shapes to continue moving without being destroyerd. one thing i was wondering was if this picture on my door is an accurate picture of a super zoomed in zip tie ?
