I was wondering how well a typical lower power (5mw or so) diode will handle large shock forces.
I would like to use my new knowledge of lasers to save myself some money and build up a laser sight for my pistols.
Will I need a special diode to handle the large g-forces and shock levels that will be seen in the use of a firearm?

If its a diode laser it should be fine (red, bluray, IR) only DPSS laser i would worry about with shock. (green, blue lasers). dpss lasers are more delicate because of the precise alignment of the crystals inside that should not be jumbled around.
