Made my first Burner with pics

I would like to say Thanks to Deadel for the wonderfull tut on how to build a LD driver.
I had an interesting time trying to get it all to fit into the only flashlight host i could get till my DX orders arrive.
It was made to run off 3 AAA and drove a 1watt lux star.
Had to cut and file a board to fit in the housing and drill out the end cap to fit 2 CR123's in it.

Scavenged a diode from an LG gsa-h50n 18x its open can.
But I am having a hard time getting it into focus.
As I allready made A LD into a led I am keeping the power settings low for now.(LED drivers do not make good LD drivers)
I can focus it into a pin point at about 10" but it widens drastically  after that.
I now know from reading some of the posts that i should get a good Aixiz module.
The one I have is scavenged from an old <5 mw laser level.

For now it keeps me happy

Welcome to the club. ;D I see you have learned a lot. True -- If it is focused at say two feet, it will be large at 20'. That's also the good thing about these reds -- You have control of the focus.

Well the big problem is I almost have the lens off to get it into any kind of focus.
If the cap is halfway down the dot is about 6" round at 1' away.

With my Aixiz modules, I get longer distance as I screw the lens into the module.
The DX 5914 modules are nice too -- closer exterior tollerances and a focusing ring - you might want to look at these too.

Thanks for the tip I will prob get one for my next project when my mxdl gets here.
For now this one isnt too bad goes through a trash bag instantly at 2 feet now and will light a red match no problem.
Gotta try it on some tape when i get the chance

Well got my new module from DX lot beter focus now
Can now pop baloons at 10+ feet almost instantly and easily cut electrical tape
