So I just popped one of the SF-AW210's from my group buy into a module, and set an LM317T driver at 7.1ohms (bout 175mA) and I just measured it at ~200mW (198-205)

Beam shots and stuff to come, but my question is wtf?

.175 A = .175 C/s.
1 e- = 1.6e-19 C.
=> .175 A = 1.09e18 e-/s

.200 W = .200 J/s
1 eV = 1.6e-19 J
=> .200W = 1.25e18 eV/s

405 nm => 3.06 eV (I just know the shortcuts for this one, work it out if you like)

=> .200W = 1.25e18 eV/s = 4.08e17 photons/s

4.1e17 photons from 1.1e18 electrons. In other words, just about 1/3 of the electrons being put into your laser are successfully recombining into laser light output.

Makes perfect physical sense. An overall energy efficiency would need to take into account the voltage, but these numbers look perfectly reasonable to me.
